The sedimentary environment of the lower member of the Neogene Minghuazhen Formationis mainly marked by meader streams in the Jiyang depression．The meader stream sediments arecharacterized by point bar，levee，floodplain and crevasse splay sediments．The relationship be—tween lithology and electricity of rocks was established through observations of the cores and cor—relation of well logs and principles of sedimentary facies classification were set up through compil—ing and summarizing various base maps．In the light of these principles a plan of sedimentary fa—cies in the lower member of the Neogene Minghuazhen Formation was compiled，which showsthat the Neogene was a period of the best development of the meader streams and that threedrainage systems controlling the sedimentation in the Jiyang depression were formed：the Chezhen-- Zhanhua，Huimin--Dongying--Zhanhua and Dongying--Zhanhua drainage systems．Althoughthe three drainage systems have different sources，they all flow through the Zhanhua hollow andfinally into the Bozhong depression．
