Ⅰ. INTRODUCTION. The Peipiao coal field is situated about 90 li North of the Chaoyang city, eastern Jehol and is connected with Chin Hsien, a station on the Peking-Mukden railway by a branch line of about 170 li. The region is characterized by a moderately dissected mountain range which runs roughly in a N. E. —S. W. direction.
