    Abstract:

Because of different properties of orecontrolling structures, deposits in Jiaodong area have been divided into two types of mineralization: quartz veins type and altered rock type. Reserve distribution of these two types of deposits has been discussed by fractal models. It is shown that reserves of gold deposits obeys mult ifractal distribution. This phenomenon seems to be a general rule. It is suggested that frequency distribution pattern of the reserves of gold depositsis an expression of the fact that metallogenic system evolves on the edges of chaos. The geological meaning of fractal dimension D will be changed with the scope of studied area.In the Jiaodong ore zone, D can be used to distinguish quartz vein type and altered rock type gold deposits.
