Abstract:A large number of bronze artifacts have been unearthed from the Sanxingdui site in Guanghan, Sichuan Province. Currently, there is no consensus on the source of copper materials for the Sanxingdui bronze artifacts. Through actual investigation of the remaining mines of the Dabaoshan copper mine, and the collection of ore and smelting waste samples at different mining points for lead isotope determination, as well as the determination of the content of major metal elements such as Cu, Pb, Zn, Au, Ag, Se, As, Sb, and iron elements such as Ni and Co. By using the lead isotope ratio method and trace element tracing method, and comparing with previous research results on the chemical composition of Sanxingdui bronze artifacts, a comprehensive analysis was conducted on the correlation between the copper material sources of Dabaoshan copper mine and Sanxingdui bronze artifacts. The results revealed that: (1) The Dabaoshan copper mine is made of ordinary lead, and using the lead isotope ratio method to trace the origin of copper materials containing special lead bronze vessels such as Sanxingdui cannot accurately determine their copper source. (2) The characteristics of trace element content indicate that the combination characteristics of trace elements in most of the bronze artifacts in Sanxingdui are similar to those of the Dabaoshan copper mine. (3) Through further factor analysis and cluster analysis of trace elements, it is shown that the combination characteristics of trace elements in some of the bronze artifacts in Sanxingdui are similar to most of the samples from Dabaoshan Copper Mine, and the copper material in this part of the bronze artifacts is likely to come from Dabaoshan Copper Mine.
