Abstract:Based on the geologic features and geophysical data of the Taihangshan tectono-magmatic belt and the down-faulted basins on its east and west sides, the paper discusses the origin, source and emplacement mechanism of magmas in the intraplate tectono-magmatic belt far from the sub-duction zone, and proposes a tentative model of ductile rheomorphism and magma doming. Under the control of the regional tectonic stress field and mantle potential and density differences, materials denuded from the rising erogenic belt should be transported into the down-faulted basins on its two sides. The materials of the mid-lower crust of the basins might migrate toward the deep level of the orogenic belts along the gentle-dipping ductile detachment (deformed) belt at the deep mountain root and then would form anatectic magma under the shear stress due to detachment and in the presence of the fluids. The anatectic magma, which possibly rises along the steep dipping shear zone, continuously assimilates and contaminates country rocks of the mid-lower crust and even brings about partial melting, forming large-scale anatectic magma. Con-1 rolled by tectonism, the anatectic magma appears to be emplaced by means of dike propagation and balloning to the main decollment between the basement and the cover, thus forming the bulk of magmatic rocks in the tectono-magmatic belt.
