Abstract:Ten years have passed since the First All-China symposium on the TanchengLujiang Fault Zone. In the past ten years Chinese geologist have paid great atten-tion to this zone and written more than 200 papers on this subject.Several mono-graphs and contributions have been published. During this period this zone hasbeen well known in the international geoscience circle. In the paper the advances are introduced in the following aspects: distribu-tion of the fault zone, organization and attitude of the fault zone, fault rocks, associated structures, ductile shear zones, correlation of the blocks on both sides ofthe fault, large--scale strike-slip, kinematics of the strike--slip, timing of fault activ-ity and stages of evolution, mineralization, wrench fault system, transform marginalong the margin of the Northwest Pacific and the nature of the fault zone. The authors also point out that further work remains to be done on thefollowing problems; the existence of the fault zone in pre-Mesozoic time, correlation of different tectonic stages, strike--slip and adjustment of the northernsegment, nature of the fault, relationship between the fault and intrusions, miner-alization and isotopic geology.
