Abstract:This study finds that there are definitely unique differences in plane and profile between the glacier and debris flow accumulation bodies based on a comparative analysis of their accumulation process. The glacial moraine formed aunique ridge—groove sequence in plane, and the features of section were mixed and without beddings. However, the debris flow formed a radial ridge—groove deposition fan and showed rhythmic sequences in the profile. Based on the investigation of Lanmaqiang and Yaochi moraine ridges in Mengshan Mountains, the Lanmaqiang moraine ridge belonged to the glacial concave bank accumulation, whereas the Yaochi moraine ridge was glacial symmetrical accumulation. In addition, the “debris flow bottom mud layer” shown in figure 2d of the paper (Wang Nai’ang et al., 2020&) is actually a discarded honeycomb built by mud bees, and the “parallel feature” scratch caused by debris flow is a misunderstanding about the quotation. Through comprehensive study, the Lanmaqiang moraine ridge and the Lanxi U- shaped valley are formed by glaciation on the basis of the appearance features of Qingrong ancient cirque, the flat index (F= 1.87), the plane distribution of the Yaochi and Lanmaqiang ridge, the accumulation characteristics of gravel ridges, the Lanxi U- shaped valley characteristics and the ratio of depth to width (0.24~0.27), the polished surfaces on the wallrock of the U- shaped valley consisting of “tiny scratch” and “parallel feature” scratches, etc.
