Geothermal resources development in Weishi County is still in its infancy. In order to meet the needs of large- scale geothermal resources development, it is urgent to find out the occurrence of geothermal resources in this area. The study area is located in the middle of the secondary tectonic unit of Taikang uplift and the junction of Weishi—Xuedian sub- depression zone. Based on the two- dimensional and three- dimensional inversion of 220 geomagnetic sounding points collected in the western part of Weishi County town, combined with two- dimensional reflection seismic profiles, the strata and fault distribution structures in the study area are analyzed, and the geothermal resource prospect area is predicted. Dimensional analysis results show that the main structural strike of the study area is NW. Two- dimensional and three- dimensional magnetotelluric sounding inversion results show that the shallow strata of 4 km in the study area can be divided into four layers from top to bottom: Neogene—Quaternary Triassic Carboniferous—Permian Cambrian—Ordovician. Three normal faults can be identified at the section location by synthesizing two- dimensional reflection seismic and magnetotelluric sounding data. The selection of drilling around or across the fault zone can ensure the amount of water.
