Abstract:Objectives: Stream sediment survey has contributed a lot to China’s mineral exploration. In this study, delineating some new gold prospective areas and improving prospecting efficiency were discussed using 1∶50000 stream sediment survey in Muping—Wendeng area, Jiaodong(Eastern Shandong) Peninsula. Methods: Geochemical ?倓 characteristics of 1∶50000 stream sediment survey, relationships among all the 13 elements analyzed in laboratory, geochemical anomaly of Au, comprehensive anomalies were discussed. Based on the metallogenic geological condition, gold prospective areas were delineated. Results: 72 comprehensive geochemical anomalies were delineated. Several comprehensive geochemical anomalies with large anomaly dimension were found upon the fault structure and identified as the one with high metallogenic potential. Three prospective areas for gold were optimized. Conclusions: Stream sediment survey is a significant method of geochemical prospecting. The three prospective areas optimized have great potential. The quartz vein type gold deposit, fracture zone type gold deposit, and gold—lead polymetallic ore were expected to be found in Chucun—wangjiapozi, Tangcundianzi and Xie jiazhuang, respectively. This report could be a successful example for optimizing geochemical anomalies delineated by stream sediment survey in eastern China.
