Abstract:Yanshan movement laid the structural prototype of the Songtao Area,East Guizhou Province. The Study area suffered a SEE—NWW compressive stress field in early Yanshanian and formed NNE—SSW trending folds and faults.Main detachment surfaces characterized by marlstone and calcian argillite in Palang Formation—Bianmachong Formation of Lower Cambrian Series and Datangpo Formation of Nanhua System were complexly distorted by relatively smooth open fold above and tight fold beneath. In late Yanshanian, the Study area suffered a NNE—SSW compressive stress field and formed NWW—SSE trending folds and faults. This deformation, superimposing on the earlier one, was presented by the undulation of hinge in the earlier nearly S—N trending folds and extensional shearing activities in faults. Due to several episodes of southwards detachments, Ndipped axial planes of nearly E—W trending folds with partial inversion and southwards thrusting faults were developed in the South which cut and leaped the earlier S—N structure.Under the action of early and late Yanshanian, carbonaceous shale that contains manganese of Gaodi manganese deposit as a weak detachment layer, slide and gather from the limb to the core of Houziao syncline, and make its core enrichment, in synclinal limb relative thinning. At the same time, the existence of listric normal fault that influence the storage and damage of manganese ore.
