This paper summarizes the achievements in the study of sedimentary structure in the last couple of decades. And the paper illustrates the situation of study and development tendency of sedimentary structure from five aspects: the first is to go on exploring new sedimentary structure; the second is to research the genesis of some existing sedimentary structure by a variety of methods, including field observation, physical modeling and numerical modeling; the third is to correct people's obsolete or wrong understandings on genesis and environmental implication of some sedimentary structure; the fourth is to put emphasis on the study of softsediment deformation structures, flow escape structures and liquid structures; the twentyth is to go on discovering and expanding the application function and range of sedimentary structure in the study of sedimentology (environment analysis, sequence stratigraphy and so on). In China, achievements in the study of sedimentary structure are some poor in recent years, so it is worthwhile for us to forge ahead.
