In terms of the geographic distribution, granite of China is distributed throughout the country; in terms of geological structure, it is distributed in all the orogenic belts; in terms of ages, granite of all ages from the Archean to Cenozoic are found in China; and in terms of rock types and genetic types, almost all the known granite types in the world occur in China. Especially, the types of granite geomorphological landscapes in China are not only highly diversified but also superior to those in other countries of the world in aesthetic enjoyment value. Therefore China is one of the countries with the greatest number of granite scenic areas (including world heritage, national parks, world geoparks, national geoparks and tourism ares). Granite scenic areas have become China's most important tourism targets and played an important role in the development of China's tourism industry. Granite geomorphological landscapes have been important tourism resources. This paper attempts to make a preliminary study of the problems about the geological and geographic distribution, geomorphological landscape types, tourism development value, scenic area construction and future research direction of China's granite in the hope of calling the attention of the geoscience community, tourist community and broad masses of visitors to granite scenic areas as well as granite geomorphological landscapes and thus pushing the study of granite geological and geomorphological landspapes ana their applications to new height.
