Abstract:The Pingba dolomite profile (26°24′N,106°30′E), which is located in Pingba county, Centrial Guizhou, has been subjected to chemical leaching and analyses in order to investigate the geochemical processes and distribution characteristics of major, trace and rare earth elements (REE) in original samples, acidsoluble (AS) and acidinsoluble (AI) fractions of the samples. The results show that the composition of major elements in acidinsoluble (AI) is similar to that of original samples, but the concentration of major elements are different between them; the distribution of trace elements in acidsoluble (AS) ranges from 0 to 73.22%; the distributions of Ga, Y, Ba, Pb and U are all higher than 30%; especially, the leaching amounts of Y and Zr are 59.64% and 0.34% respectively, which are different from traditional consideration, and it is important to reunderstand activity and distribution of elements in the supergenous process. Superhigh concentration of REE at the weathering profile was resulted from two factors: inheritance of the underlying dolomite residues and existing of phosphate minerals, which is same to results in our other papers. At the same time, our leaching experiments indicated that weathering in studying region is actually natural leaching process. Finally, the major enriching pool of REE and Sr are discussed and we conclude that the REE mainly enrich in phosphate and Sr mainly enriches in carbonate.
