The basic concepts and dividing principles of geological units in mineral resource prediction based on comprehensive information are summarized. The princ iples of the automatic generation of geological units in GIS (MapInfo) are discu ssed. An algorithm of geological units generated automatically in the MapInfo software platform is developed
