The fact that not only mantlesourced Mesozoic volcanic rocks of the central eruption type are well developed in the northern part of the Greater and Lesser Hinggan Mountains but also there is a wide distribution of gold pla cers in the region shows that it is a vein gold metallogenic concentrated region . Therefore, the key to breakthroughs in future exploration is the delineation of the most favorable metallogenic structural posit ions of vein gold deposits and the optimum preservation conditions. By analyzing the geological featuers of the Mesozoic volcanic rocks, the distribution pattern of placer gold , the exposed elevation of vein gold deposits , the residual extents of volcanics, the denudation extent of vein gold depo sits, etc., this paper presents a genetic model of the Mesozoic vein gold d e posits of volcanic rock type and proposes the directions and targets for prospecting.
