In this article，the principle of sequence stratigraphy is used to discuss 4 major factors con—trolling the development of stratigraphic sequences of continental lake basins．The Palaeogene inthe Dongying hollow may be divided into 2 sequences and 6 system tracts．Four types of TST arefound in the lake basin and their sedimertary models have been established．The condensed sec—tion in the first sequence has been determined and the method for defining the parasequences indeep—Water environments is discussed．
