    Abstract:

At present, the research on mineral association in aluminium- bearing rock series is mainly focused on single mining area or typical ore deposit, and there is no comparison between different ages, different aluminium- forming zones and genetic types, let alone systematic summary of the coupling relationship between mineral association characteristics and sedimentary environment. This paper focuses on the difference of mineral assemblages in different aluminium- forming zones and different ages of the aluminium- bearing rock series in South China to constrain the sedimentary environment and the genetic subtypes of bauxite, which has certain indicative significance for the further study of the sedimentary environment of bauxite and the division of the genetic subtypes of bauxite. Methods: On the basis of comprehensive collection and collation of previous research data, systematic comparison of mineral associations of bauxite deposits in different aluminium- forming zones in South China is carried out to study the evolutionary sequence and mineral associations of aluminium- bearing rock series of bauxite. Results:There are obvious differences in mineral associations between different genetic types of bauxite (Sedimentary type, Salento type and laterite type) and different aluminium- forming belts in South China Central Guizhou, South Chongqin—Northern Guizhou, Central Yunnan, Southeast Yunnan—West Guangxi and Central Guangxi). The sedimentary type mineral assemblage is complex, and the Salento type and laterite type mineral assemblage is single. Diaspore is main mineral of sedimentary type and Salento type. Diaspore is the main aluminum mineral of sedimentary type and Salento type. It is distributed in Carboniferous period and Quaternary period, except in Guizhong aluminiferous zone. Bauxite is a major laterite- type aluminum mineral, distributed spatiotemporal in the middle aluminiferous belt of Quaternary. Kaolinite are widely distributed in time and space, they are the main clay minerals in aluminum- bearing rock. It is distributed in various metallogenic epochs and aluminum belts. Hematite is scattered and unstable. Only the bottom of aluminium- bearing rock series is stable in Xiuwen—Qingzhen area. There are obvious differences in the time and space of illite, chlorite, pyrite and siderite. The differences in mineral assemblages are closely related to environmental changes. Kaolinite and hematite indicate continental sedimentary environment, illite, chlorite, pyrite and siderite indicate marine terrestrial transitional sedimentary environment. Conclusions: ① The spatial and temporal distribution of mineral associations is different. ② Mineral associations can constrain sedimentary environments. ③ Mineral association can reflect the type of bauxite.
