    Abstract:

This paper studies the horizon with carbonate microspar veins found in the Qingbaikou Hejiayao Formation in the Songshan area, Henan Province. The horizon represents a Neoproterozoic seismic activity period. Contemporaneous earthquake records were also found in the Luoyukou Formation, Lushan, western Henan Province and the Xunjiansi Formation in southern Shaanxi Province. According to the features and compositions of the microspar veins and other deformational features associated with earthquakes, especially micro-facies analysis with the confocal laser scanning microsystem (CLSM), the authors consider the banded microspar veins in the Songshan area to be the same as those found in the Jiaoliao and Xuhuai areas. The appearance of the microspar veins is related with tectonic events of the southern margin of the North China block.
