    Abstract:

The authors have discovered many fossil conodonts, corals and foraminiferas of the Lower Carboniferous from the so-called Devonian strata in Yanghe, Wushan and Gucheng, Lixian of the western Qinling, which provides direct evidence for redivision of those strata. It is of most crucial significance to a new understanding of the Carboniferous palaeogeographical setting, the evolutionary history and the sedimentary environment of this area, as well as of the whole western Qinling.
