    Abstract:

A TIMS U-Pb zircon analysis indicates that the Yingyangguan basic volcanic rocks in Hezhou, Guangxi formed at 819±11Ma. This means that Yingyangguan volcanic roc ks was the first magma event within the Neoproterozoic lift basin in South China. It suggested that 819±11Ma was the limit age of Sinian in South China. The sim ilarity of the age of the Neoproterozoic granitoids in northern Guangxi to that o f large number of spilitic and maficultramafic rocks which covered granitoids, suggested that this area underwent a process of fast uplifting of crustal, unloa ding and lifting during about 820Ma. It can be considered as part of a wider con tinental rift system produced by a starting mantle plume beneath South China dur ing the Neoproterozoic breakup of Rodinia. This will support the model of mantle plume about 825Ma in South China.
