    Abstract:

A number of copper mineralizations occurs in the various volcanic rocks in weste rn K unlun, and the volcanichosted copper deposits are believed as the most importa nt eco nomic type. The marine volcanic rocks occurred mainly in the Kungai Mountains an d Ku da area are different each other at layer thickness, petrological, rock association, geochemical and forming time etc. The basalt in the Kungai Mountains belongs to d i fferential alkali or calcalkaline suite, is result from the local rifting at t h e continental margin. That in Kuda, tholeiite, part of a complete ophiolite suite , is similar to NMORB, which represents the remnant of ancient ocean crust. The studies on marine volcanic rocks and copper mineralizations show that the ba salthosted massive sulfide copper deposit is the future for exploring, but the geological environment is not suitable for forming rich and largescale deposit .
