Abstract:Some new ideas on the tectonic evolution of NE China and its neighboring areas are briefly stated in this paper. The author proposes the preliminary inference that there possibly existed the Late Jurassic paleoplateau, similar to the current Qinghai-Tibet plateau. Traditional concepts on the "Paleoasia oceanic tectonic regime" and "circum-Pacific tectonic regime" are discussed and revised. Comparison of the Sino-Korean block in geological activities since the Middle Proterozoic with the Siberian platform is briefly made.
