Seismite is a kind of catastrophic event rocks. This paper introduces the present state of the study of seismites and seismite sequences of China during the past 10 years and discusses eventrecords such as "earthquake--tsunami sequence", "seismic sequence by vibrational liquefactionin carbonate rocks", "seismite and seismo-unconformity" and "seismite sequence in sabkha sue- jcession" and their characteristics. Besides, the significance and prospects in studying seismites in China are assessed.
