An unique and relatively complete skull of Wenshanaspis zhichangensis was found in the Gumu area of Wenshan twenty years ago, another relatively complete fossil specimen has been collected for the first time in Zhujie area of Guangnan, Wenshan, Yunnan Province. Results: Wenshanaspis zhichangensis not only greatly widened the distribution range of Wenshanaspis zhichangensis, enriched the study on the sequence stratigraphy of its occurrence horizon——The Posongchong Formation, but also contributed a great deal to the restoration of paleogeographic features of the early Devonian. Conclusions: A new oval opening connecting the posterior supraorbital canal and the lateral dorsal canal has been found by the comparison with the orthotype specimen, and its function has been analyzed and discussed.
