Abstract:Kimberlite is a rock less distributed and harder to find in the world. For a long time geologists have paid attention to, since it contains diamonds for economic value and the information brought by xenoliths from deep crust or upper mantle. The kimberlites exist mostly in pipe shapes, which contain homologous inclusions from the upper mantle and xenolith from all rocks when magma caught from country rocks along the ascending channel. The complexity makes nomenclatures controversial. Based on the study and investigation of the latest achievements, this paper analyzes and summarizes the noun usage and rock naming principles, and dissects the vertical changes of three types of kimberlite pipes, and analyzes the characteristics of kimberlite pipes discovered in China, which may help in discovering possible diamond alluvial.
