Abstract:The negative inversion structure is widespread in the field, and the study of geometry and development features of negative inversion structure is very important to recognize the regional geology, oil and gas exploration and development. By the analysis of the 3D seismic profiles and combining with the previous work, constrained geological outcrops and drilling data, the typical negative inversion structure has been found in the Jurong basin, which has a series of characteristics: firstly, the analysis of the 3D seismic section of the basin, reflects the compressional tectonic environment during the Indonesian Period and the early Yanshanian Period and the extensional tectonic environment which formed a series of extensional basin during the late Yanshanian Period; Secondly, the sedimentary formation of Cretaceous- Quaternary was controlled by the negative inversion structure which formed a basin whose north side is faulted and south side overlapped. The faults around of the negative inversion structure aren’t inverted because the extensional stress is absorbed by the negative inversion structure in the middle and late Cretaceous; Thirdly, the extensional event in the late Yanshanian Period isn’t entirely destructive to the traps of oil and gas, given the good shows of oil and gas around the negative inversion structure. The strata at the bottom of Gaojiabian formation mudstone caprock are very thick and can be regional cap formations, if the layers aren’t destructed by the faults.
