Abstract:Characteristics of REE patterns, trace element and isotopic composition of ores and rocks from the Xialei manganese deposit, and similarity to the basalt forming in the same region and period as manganese depasit, implicate that regional tectonic background of metallization is rift at passive continental margin, and there is intimate material and origin relation. Based on compositions of major element, trace element, C, O and S isotopes, it is indicated that material source of manganese is polygenetic: both from lower crust and terrienous deposit, also occurring biological action the normal marine deposit inputted by hydrothermal sotution. Change of Mn, Fe, MgO, SiO2, Al2O3, CaO contents and ratios of V/(Ni+V), V/Cr, triangle diagram of Fe—Mn—(Ni+Co+Cu)×10 in ore bed suggest that physicochemical condition of metallization: Oxicdysoxic environment, medium pH periodicly varied between acidity and alkalinity, manganese deposit was producted by hydrothermal sedimentation.
