The data bank of 1∶200,000 digital geological maps which is set up bas ed on the ARC/INFO technical platform is an important data source for GIS applic ation analysis. The quality and effectiveness of the spatial data bank is the ke y problem in setting up the date bank. Practicable and effective running procedu re for settingup of the data bank, carefulness and collection ways in the initial stage of data collection, reliable data transformation means and right analysi s and treatment of data error all are the effective measures for the quality gua rantee of the data bank construction. In order to guarantee the quality of the d ata bank the criteria for quality evaluation are established based on the charac teristics of figure data and the aim for setting up figure data bank.
