Data are the basis of a study. The database based on Arc/Info, capable of saving, managing, querying an d analyzing spatial data, has great advantages over traditional methods. The main aims of GIS application include data buildup, maintenance an d reproduction, drawing maps related to spatial data and attribu tes, and getting useful information for user to fulfil such tasks as programmin g, management and decision. As an example, this paper expounds and discusses the design of database structure and collection of data in detail base on PC Arc/Info in regard to the imformation of mineral resources in and around the Ashele CuZn deposit district, Xinjiang.
