Volcanic rocks which are widely developed around the periphery of the Q ai dam Basi n,Qinghai Province,form large ringlike volcanic belts.This study is focused on the timespace distribution of volcanic rocks,their paleog eographic en vironment,and petrological and petrochemical characteristics to reveal the tectonic setting and evolutionary history of the volcanic rocks.Based on the cl ose relationship between volcanism and Cupolymetallic mineralization,and the ore petentiality of volcanic rocks in the belts,this paper discusses about the possiblity of metallization,so as to advance the prospe cting for mineral resources related to volcanic activities in this area.
