Abstract:On the basis of an analysis of tectonic deformation of the Shuizhengding vertical fold and dif-ference in deformation of auriferous or unauriferous quartz veins in the Longshui gold deposit, the author realizes that the diverse deformation types of quartz veins in the course of folding of strata were chiefly caused by the change of the principal shear stress and principal compressive stress acting on rock layers with time. He tries to elaborate the dynamic stress-field and process of dynamics and proposes a kind of new mechanism for the formation of quartz veins by deforma-tion partitioning, hydrofracturing and rupture healing.
