The authors have studied the sedimentary characteristics of the Neogene in the Jiyang de—pression using the geological，log，seismic and chemical analysis data．It is thought that in this pe—riod there developed tWO types of sedimentary facies，alluvial fan facies and river facies．The riverfacies is divided into 4 sub—facies and 7 microfacies．Through the facies analysis of single—well andmulti—well sections．The authors have studied the change of the sedimentary faices，prepared mapsof sedimentary facies in。different periods，analyzed provenances and the flow direction of the an—cient rivers and finally pointed out advantageous oil—gas reservoir facies zones
