Abstract:The extraction, concentration and enhancement of information about miner-alization are a key technological problem im prognosis of mineral resources. It callsfor consciously meddling in the construction of the metallogenic model, givingprominence to the information related to mineralization and prognosis, controllingor eliminating some information that has no obvious mineralization significanceor interferes with prognosis, promoting the prognostic model to approximate towhat can reflect the mineralization information and promoting the coincidencebetween the model and the actual geological setting of mineral deposits accordingto our knowledge of the metallogeny of mineral deposits and adhering to certaincriteria for prognosis. Proceeding from the study of the metallogenic model andore-controlling geological indications, this paper suggests that the new techniqueof information enhancement should be applied in prognosis of mineral potential. Some examples of the enhancement method for prioriconfined models and non- priori-confined models are given in the paper. Some, mineral deposits of commer-cial value have been found in the ore target areas determined by using thismethod;good ore prospecting results have been achieved. The authors expoundthe method, steps and geological prerequisites of application of the "informationenhancement" technique. Practice has proved that the enhancement of mineraliza-tion information is not only conducive to extracting useful information but alsostrengthening an organic combination of the metallogenic model with the pro-gnostic model of mineral deposits, thus raising the effectiveness of mineral pro-specting.
