Abstract:In recent years, geophysical and geochemical prospecting has been made by the authors in the Qicun geothermal field in Xinzhou County, Shanxi Province. It has been found that the apparent resistivity is commonly lower within the distribution area of subsurface thermal water and that the apparent resistivity decreases as the temperature goes higher. Besides, the a-anomalies also show the existence of subsurface thermal water. The impermeable layer and cap rock layer consist of clay and loam. Thermal waters occur and are retained in the shallow secondary reservoir. Their hydrochemical types are the chloride-sulphate-sodium type and chloride - sodium type.
