    1 Introduction The Guanling Biota is characterized by abundant, well-preserved Late Triassic fossils notably marine reptiles and crinoids, and especially complete articulated ichthyosaur skeletons of large-size up to more than 10 m and the first Chinese thalattosaurs and placodonts.
