The paper chiefly summarized the tempo-spatial distribution, general geological characteristics and formation of blueschist in China. There are mainly six aspects included in this paper. ① Current studying progress on bluechist belts in China. ② Discussing the concepts of blueschist, glucophane schist and glucophane schist facies or blueschist facies. ③ Describing the geological characteristics of 17 blueschist belts in China, including rock associations, nature of original rocks, mineral assemblages, p-T conditions, metamorphic ages and tectonic backgrounds. ④ Analyzing the genesis of blueschist belts, and two modes of deep subduction-continental-continental collision and deep subduction ocean crust collision was proposed. ⑤ Summarizing the synthetic geological characteristics of blueschist belts in China. ⑥ Six geological issues on studying blueschist belts were also proposed and further investigation and study is also suggested.
