Study of the characteristics and influencing factors of land subsidence in the Tongzhou district of Beijing

    Abstract:

    In recent years, the Tongzhou district has rapidly expanded resulting in the formation of a new land subsidence center in Beijing, which seriously threatens the coordinated development of regional economy, environment, and society. An efficient and systematic study of the characteristics of land subsidence in the Tongzhou district can provide a scientific basis for urban planning. Based on the descending orbit data of 43 Sentinel- 1A/B scenes from 2014 to 2018, the paper uses the PS- InSAR technology to obtain surface deformation information, combining high- precision GPS data to verify InSAR results. The results show that InSAR results and GPS data results have a correlation coefficient of 0.98, indicating that InSAR results have a high accuracy. Combined with hydrogeology, road density, and other data, the spatial- temporal characteristics of heterogeneous land subsidence in the Tongzhou district and its response to factors were analyzed. The results showed that during the study period, the average land subsidence surface displacement rate was -101.5~+16.7 mm/a, and the area with land subsidence rate over 50 mm/a was 86. 6 km2, accounting for 8% of the total area. The gradient of land subsidence rate and cumulative deformation on typical line A—A and B—B varies greatly through the sub- center planning area, up to 41. 4 mm/(a·km),where the heterogeneous land subsidence is serious. Compared with deep groundwater level, shallow groundwater has little effect on land subsidence. The thickness of compressible layer is more than 100 m in the area with serious land subsidence, and is in the transition zone with different thickness. The density of the road network is positively correlated with the land subsidence. Summing up the above, the main factor affecting land subsidence is the change of deep groundwater level. This paper aims to provide a rationale for the prevention and control of land subsidence and mechanism research in the Tongzhou district.
