Abstract:Tonghua Basin, as a fault basin overlying the ArcheanProterozoic metamorphic basement, is one of shale oil and gas prospect areas located in the eastern periphery of the Songliao Basin. Poor understanding of petroleum and gas resources status restricts the subsequent oil and gas exploration work. The well Tongdi 1 was drilled in order to reveal the occurrence states of low Cretaceous hydrocarbon source rocks and hydrocarbon generating potential of shale oil and gas. The core samples were systematic carried out, and the maturity test, type and abundance of organic matter were also completed. The experimental test results show that: the organic matter abundance of dark mudstones in low Cretaceous Hengtongshan Formation in the Tonghua basin is relative high and dominated by type Ⅰ~Ⅱ1, locally with type Ⅲ, and vitrinite ranges from 0.972% to 1.127%, suggesting that it has entered a mature stage with a large number of hydrocarbon generating; The organic matter abundance of dark mudstone in the Xiahuapidianzi Formation is high, dominated by type Ⅰ, locally with type Ⅱ and type Ⅲ, and Vitrinite reflectance are from 0.986% to 1.399%, suggesting that it has entered a mature stage of a large number of hydrocarbon generating. Their geochemical features are similar to other shale gas in the world.
