Abstract:The accurate dating of late Paleozoic strata, which are widely exposed in the eastern Junggar, Xinjiang, is important to establish the tectonic framework of the eastern Junggar as well as the centralasian orogenic belt . while their chronostratigraphic frameworks are considerably different. According to self-testing ziron U-Pb ags of five andesites and 11 sandstones with the other published ages, the formation age of the most geogical boby was between 336Ma and 268Ma, and a few >336Ma geogical boby are exposed along Erqix, Armantai and Kelameili tectonic zones. Most of pre-Carboniferous and Carboniferous marine strata considered should be Pennsylvanian with part of contemporaneous but heteropic strata. Carboniferous continental strata considered should be Cisuralian, Permian. The late Paleozoic oceans in the eastern Junggar was contemporaneous subduction-collision, and the tectonic evolution during late Paleozoic was suggested to divide into four stages: ocean subduction stage during 400Ma ~ 336Ma, ocean final collision stage during 336Ma ~ 300Ma, post- collision stage during 300Ma ~ 270Ma as well as lacustrine deposit stage in south margin during middle-late permian.
