    Abstract:

Most of China′s oil bearing basins have had primary conditions for occurrence of shale gas. Based on the studying on the distribution and geological features of shale in China′s major oilbearing basins, the resources of shale gas in China′s major basins and areas has been evaluated using analog method. The result shows the total of resources amounts to (21.5~45)×1012 m3, with a mean value of 30.7×1012 m3. The shale gas resources are distributed mainly in southern China and North China. Among them, the resources of Paleozoic shale gas takes account for as twice much as that in Mesozoic shale gas. Therefore, the Lower Cambrian and Lower Silurian shales in the eastern and southern parts of the Sichuan Basin is the major sequence to prospect.
