Abstract:Based on satellite remote sensing images and field investigation, combined with previous research, this paper systematically summarizes the tectonic characteristics of the fault zone in the southern Altyn. The research displays that the fault is characterized by multiple segments along strike and the multiple zonation vertically, as well as multiple, periodical evolution features both in tectonic activity and movement direction. The fault zone of the southern Altyn exhibits the features of the crustal wave movement. Therefore, any single model of sinistral or dextral, thrusting, normal slip cannot explain its tectonic evolution comprehensively and rationally.
