    Abstract:

Sandstone-type uranium deposit is one of uranium deposits with important industrial value as the main target exploration in Chinese nuclear geology. This paper focuses on the uranium mineral occurrence of sandstone-type uranium deposits in the Ordos basin by the jointed research with high-resolution SEM and EPMA. The SEM and EPMA results show that most of the uranium minerals are in micro-grained distributed in cracks or cleavages of minerals such as potassic feldspar, microcline and muscovite and cement in the form of very tiny grains (<1μm). Usually, UO2 contents are very lower in cracks or cleavages of calcite and quartz. UO2 Contents of are ranging from 0 to 3.46% in the above environment by EPMA. Some micro-grains of uranite accumulate into big grains to ~200μm. Generally, the high-U bearing minerals are also containing high-Th and REE in the rocks. This study is of significance to understanding of uranium migration, sedimentation and enrichment coexisting with oil and natural gases in sedimentation basins. It is also useful for the utilization and metallurgic technology of sand-type U resources in the Ordos basin.
