    Abstract:

The scleractinian corals were collected by the authors from the Middle Triassic Ladinian Biangyang Formation in the Bianyang area, Guizhou Province, South China, in August, 2003, including 4 genera and 6 species. They are Pinacophyllum spizzensis (Tornquist), P. aff. yunnanense Wu, P. bianyangense sp. nov., Retiophyllia bianyangensis sp. nov., Procyclolites sp. and Margarosmilia sp. Since no early Triassic corals have been found yet, the middle Triassic corals become the key to the relationship and possible linkage among Rogusa, Tabulata and Scleractinia. The corals from Bianyang will throw light on the occurrence and evolution of Scleractinia.
