The name of Chikou limestone was proposed by the late Mr. S. W. Wang for a thin-bedded dark gray limestone outcropped in the vicinity of the Chikou village, about 20 km. west of Yungan city in Fukien province. He also suggested the age of this limestone to be Lower Ordovician but without palaeontological evidence.
