Abstract:The upper Yangtze metallogenic belt is located in southwestern China and is an important metal resources cluster region. Based on the latest research results and prospecting progress, this study redefined and named the upper Yangtze Mn- Zn- Ag- Cu- Al metallogenic belt. 25 key metallogenic areas were re identified in this belt. In combination with study of regional geological background, three sub level metallogenic zones were divided in this belt and a mineralization lineage of the upper Yangtze Mn- Zn- Ag- Cu- Al metallogenic belt was established. Comprehensive research shows that the belt rich in Mn, Zn, Ag, Cu, Al, Pb and Fe is of big resources potential. The main deposit types are stratabound reconstructive lead zinc deposits, altered tectonite type gold deposit, sedimentary type bauxite deposits, sedimentary type manganese deposits, and sedimentary type phosphorite deposits. Metallogenic models for the key deposit types were summarized. 16 target prospect areas were defined, including ten key prospect areas and 6 investigation areas. The definition will give a direction for next exploration and work arrangement, providing basis and suggestion for national geological survey and assessment of public service.
