Lithium resource is one of the indemnificatory and strategic resources for the development of high- tech industry.Qinghai Province is rich in lithium resources.The primary lithium deposit is brine type lithium deposit with huge reserves. The hard- rock type, in second place, is mainly pegmatite type,concentrated in the Qaidam basin,the northern margin of Qaidam basin and the Qinghai section of the northwestern segment of the Sanjiang belt.The metallogenic epoch is mainly Cenozoic and Mesozoic.The lithium metallogenic series in Qinghai is established through discussion of the ore bearing characteristics, mineralization and mechanisms of five typical ore deposits- three salt- lake type lithium deposits in the Qaidam basin: the Chaerhan salt lake,the East Taigener salt lake, and the Nayishan potassium- rich lithium brine deposit;two hard rock type deposits in the northern margin of the Qaidam basin：the Chaka Beishan lithium beryllium deposit and the Caolong lithium- beryllium deposit in the northern Sanjiang belt in western Qinghai. In addition to the analysis of the prospects of different types of lithium deposits in the region,it is concluded that the salt- lake type lithium brine deposit and granite pegmatite type should be key prospecting types.The metallogenic potential is analyzed, providing a theoretical basis for future the lithium prospecting.
