Two new species of Paradiagoniella collected from the Chengjiang biota, Paradiagoniella oliviformis sp. nov. and P.conica sp. nov. , are reported here. Similar to P. magna (type species) and P.xiaolantianensis they are thinwalled sponge with dense mesh of stauractines and a minor amount of oxeas (straight or curveddiactines) to form the main skeleton; Rare hexactine or pentactine may also be present; Stauractines ranked in size. But they can be distinguished from the type species by the rankless stauractines. The two new species differ in many features, such as the overall form of body and the composition of spicules. These new materials suppose that protospongiid sponges have a high diversity in the early Cambrianperiod and provide new information for understanding the evolutionary significance of protospongiids and the early evolution of hexactinellids and siliceans
