Abstract:This paper firstly preliminarily reviews “The Research Program of NingWu Porphylite (Volcanogenic) Iron Deposits” directed by Mr. Chen YuChuan during the 1970’s and introduces the main contents of the monograph of “The NingWu Porphylite Iron Deposits”; then reviews the benefit from participating in “The NingWu Program”, including the improvement of professional ability, enlarging of geological sciences, and interesting at volcanic rocks and proposing scientific problems, and illustrating as examples of the tectonic setting and environment of the Mesozoic volcanic rock and volcanogenic iron deposits (especially the genesis about the iron-riched ‘ore-magma”) in eastern China. Finally, proposes some scientific problems such as ①determine quantitatively under how lower oxygen fugacity (PO2) the NingWu basalt-andesitic magma fraction-crystalized the Fe-rich liquid (iron-magma); ②why some subvolcanic rocks (gabbro-diorite/gabbro-diorite porphylite) formed iron deposits, another did not? How did their original magmas evaluated under different oxygen fugacity and structural environment? ③what rock series (association) do the Mesozoic volcanic rocks in eastern China belong to ? Does the volcanic rocks in NingWu basin belong to the shoshonitic rock series (association)?
