Abstract:Antimony is one of the dominant minerals in China. In this paper, based on the mineral resource potential assessment project, the authors clarifies the distribution characteristics and metallogenic of antimony deposits through comprehensive analysis of some features, including geological background of ore-formation, ore-hosting rocks, ore-controlling structures and metallogenetic epochs of the antimony deposits in China, and put forward some scientific problems. Antimony deposits in China consist of various types, and were formed in Phanerozoic, mainly in the Mesozoic and the Cenozoic, and concentrated in Southwestern Tianshan antimony belt, Xiaoxing’anling-Zhangguangcailing antimony belt, Kunlun-Qinling antimony belt, the middle-lower Yangtze antimony belt, Northern Tibet antimony belt, Southern Tibet antimony belt, Southwestern Sanjiang antimony belt, Yunnan-Guizhou-Guangxi antimony belt, Jiangnan uplift antimony belt, Central Hunan-Northern Guangxi antimony belt, Nanling antimony belt and southeast coast antimony belt. We need to study the metallogenetic mechanism of antimony deposits from the regional scale, especially on the metallogenic regularity and metallogenic series, guiding the discovery of new antimy deposits.
