Abstract:Based on the characteristics of sedimentary structural evolution, stratigraphic development and reservoir features of Jizhong depression, the study divides the Jizhong depression into 12 subbasins and 7 domes. Also, the Jizhong depression underwent 5 sedimentary evolutionary phases, resulting in the formation of two lacustrine lakes and multiple cumulative reservoirs. This formation further set up a pattern of EWzonation and NS division of sedimentary structure, which is believed to control distribution of oil and gas. Source rock controls the NS distribution of hydrocarbon, while trough controls potential and exploration prospect of hydrocarbon resources. Secondary structural zones play an important role in type, richness and accumulation of hydrocarbon reservoirs. Compound hydrocarbon cumulative zone with ancient buried hill as its major body is the ideal place for hydrocarbon accumulation. It is concluded that the Yizhong depression is of exploration potential for hydrocarbon, and further exploration in this area is the only way to find hydrocarbon resources in North China.
